Find out the age of your two way radio battery with Motorola date codes
Like all things, batteries age with time and need replacing the ensure optimal performance of your radio.
Motorola has made it east to check the age of your genuine Motorola batteries by simply looking at the back label.
Every Motorola battery label contains a three digit code that represent the battery’s manufacturing date. The first digit represents the year and the second and third digits represent the week within the year. For example, 903 means that the battery was manufactured in the third week of 2009, or in other words, the week beginning the 11 January 09.
It is important to continuously replace and upgrade your batteries as some battery chemistries suffer memory loss.
Memory loss is the gradual decrease of the battery’s capacity which results in reduced performance. As memory loss occurs over a long period of time, it can be difficult to notice your radio is not performing at its peak.
Combating memory loss is not the only positive result from upgrading to a new battery. Replacing your aging battery allows for:
• Longer talk time. • Optimized radio performance. • Increased productivity. • Smarter systems (IMPRES). • Smarter chemistries that are more environmentally friendly and have a reduced chance of memory loss.
Don’t reduce the performance of your radio with an old battery, replace your batteries every 18 months.
